My research revolves around two main topics: (1) Construction Automation Safety and (2) Sustainable Construction. I firmly believe that robotics would be the future of the construction industry. Introducing autonomous robots to job sites without proper safety cautions brings new types of hazards to an already hazardous industry. My research focus is on investigating safety risks and hazards associated with using unmanned vehicles and other types of automated systems on construction job sites. It further tries to provide easy-to-use decision-making tools that enable project managers to decide whether or not it is safe to deploy and use robotic agents on construction job sites considering job site environment, the number of existing workers and equipment on-site and other factors.
Sustainable Construction is another research topic that interests me. We need to fundamentally rethink our work processes in order to mitigate & reverse the effects of climate change. The construction industry is one of the biggest industries, in any economy. It is necessary for the construction industry to rethink some of its long-standing work processes. It is important to be more efficient and more productive. My research in this area tries to address some of the sustainability-related problems that the construction industry is dealing with.

Climate Change is real and happening right now. The construction industry as one of the biggest industries, in any economy, needs to re-think its processes, approach to waste, choice of materials and productivity. The construction industry needs to be leaner, greener and more productive. This is one of the research areas that I am passionate about and published a few works in. My main focus in this research are: (1) green data centers, (2) building materials toxicity & (3) green building certification systems.

Construction Automation Safety & Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This area is one of the two main areas of research that I am currently working on. Automation in construction interests me. My research focus in this area is mostly on safety of automation in the construction industry. I believe, having more automated robotic agents on construction job sites introduces new safety risks, which need to be addressed. My work in this area tries to tackle the safety concerns associated with use of unmanned vehicles on construction job sites using various methods including risk-assessment simulations and more importantly AI.
